It's a tall, aqua bottle similar to ones that have Florida Water embossed on the side. This one has Wm. H. Brown & Bro., followed by a line that read Baltimore. I would upload photos but see no way to make that happen. I'd like to know what the label might have looked like and what was in the bottle. I've Googled everywhere I can find but only see elaborate perfume bottles. When it was no longer available, I heard that Diane Von Furstenberg was paid to take it off the market by Jean Patou because it smelled just like his 1000 fragrance which was much more expensive. So, I bought 1000 until just lately because Patou's perfumerie was sold and the fragrance is no longer the same. Please bring back Volcan L'Amour, please!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6878158687769524213.post-26222378781353026392024-02-20T16:05:28.256-05:002024-02-20T16:05:28.256-05:00I wore this scent. Well, he took me with him to a pic n’ save and lo and behold, they had shelves full of Volcan D’amour. Hundreds of the 2 oz eau de’ toilette. My father and his friend cleaned out that store in about 15 minutes. They went down to Duarte’s on Revolution ave in Tijuana and sold every bottle for $18 each. Mr. Duarte had no idea the fragrance was discontinued and selling at a discount store for $3.99. Retail price was like $48 at the time. Mr. Duarte was very upset when he finally figured it out. Don’t really remember what it smelled like but that is my memory of this enchanted fragrance. You may wish to make a sachet using the dusting powder rather than use it in your body as it likely contains talcum powder. You can fill a sachet pillow and keep it in your dresser drawers or even hang it from a hanger in your closet. Or, keep it inside of a plastic bag and open when you want to smell it for inspiration at another time. Sounds like a neat project!GHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08581508408018361307noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6878158687769524213.post-27877362346299898272024-01-10T02:13:08.504-05:002024-01-10T02:13:08.504-05:00Thanks for this post! I’m working on a writing project where (for complicated reasons) I want a character to wear a Helena Rubenstein scent, so I was looking at what HR had available when the story is set. Based on vintage ads, Noa Noa sounded perfect, but the ads didn’t really describe the scent. Your post with its description of NN’s middle and base notes was therefore really helpful.

In fact, knowing that sandalwood - a personal fave - was part of it inspired me to go ahead and buy some vintage (unused) NN powder off eBay. My ridiculously sneezy nose can’t handle perfume, unfortunately, but I hoped enough scent would remain in the powder that I could sniff a glimpse of Rubenstein’s Tahitian dreams.

The powder arrived today and the scent is subtle but definitely there, and it’s lovely! I’ll never know how much time has changed it (if at all), but it has the almost “masculine” earthiness that I associate with sandalwood without smelling like sandalwood, and I guess the rest is the tiare - it’s definitely unique and nothing I recognise. (But again, I’m pretty ignorant about perfumes, although I’m not bad at identifying flower scents on their own.)

Anyway! Thanks again for the information and the inspiration!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6878158687769524213.post-88916458875473620222024-01-04T13:03:51.750-05:002024-01-04T13:03:51.750-05:00Thank you for this article!
