Gucci No. 3 by Parfums Gucci c1985

Gucci No. 3 by Gucci was launched in 1985, created by Firmenich for Parfums Gucci.







Texas Monthly, 1985:
"Once upon a Christmas, Came a triumph from the House of Gucci...No 3. Designed to be in tune with the times yet like all things Gucci timeless, Gucci No 3 is effortlessly classic, elegant, indefinably sophisticated, and confidently contemporary. Born of the impeccable style and craftsmanship that is Gucci, Gucci No. 3 lives up to its pedigree, with an unsurpassable aura of luxury and worldliness."


Fragrance Composition:


So what does it smell like? It is classified as a crisp white flower mossy floral chypre fragrance for women.
  • Top notes: aldehydes, bergamot, coriander, calyx, greens
  • Middle notes: iris, rose, jasmine, narcissus, tuberose, lily of the valley
  • Base notes: orris, amber, vetiver, patchouli, musk, oakmoss and leather


Glamour, 1991:
"The composition of Gucci No. 3 has an unusual radiance, with rich floral and aldehydes top notes. As Gucci No.3 warms on the skin, the scent of rose oils, jasmine, narcissus, iris and other floral elixirs unfold on delicate notes of amber, patchouli and vetiver, and blend harmoniously with green forest notes."


Bottle:

Presented in an architectural column shaped bottle, designed by Peter Schmidt. 





Gucci No.3, the prestige perfume and fragrance line, was destined to become the new signature for women of style, assurance and distinction.

In 1985, Gucci No. 3 was available in the following forms, along with its original prices in parenthesis:
  • 1 oz Parfum ($200)
  • 1/8 oz Parfum mini ($30)
  • 1 oz Eau de Toilette ($24)
  • Bath & Shower Gel ($22)
  • 6.8 oz Body Lotion ($35)
  • Dusting Powder ($24)
  • Body Cream
  • Soap ($15)





Gucci often offered gift with purchases and purchase with a purchase products when you bought Gucci No.3, these items included a cut glass tray, silk like white robe, and a Swiss style Gucci clock.

Good Housekeeping, 1990:
"Gucci's elegant gift set includes a marble-look Gucci clock and 4 oz Eau de Toilette. $60."

In 1988, Gucci launched a new scent for men called Gucci Nobile which embodied a feeling of elegance and refinement and was designed as a companion fragrance to Gucci No 3 for women .

Inside Print, 1989:
"In 1987, Colonia Inc., creators of the Gucci line of perfumes, decided to create a new advertising campaign to revive Gucci No. 3 for women and introduce Gucci Nobile for men, according to John Mann, vice president of marketing services."

Fate of the Fragrance:


Gucci No. 3 was discontinued and can be hard to find.
