Jovan introduced its famous Grass Oil perfume in 1974 and it was an instant hit, especially among the Love Generation who wanted an earthy, back to nature fragrance.
It was made up of a potent, long lasting blend of various essences of grasses, spring flowers, earth flowers, and clover blossoms. It was available in both a perfume oil and a cologne spray.
Jovan marketed this as a sensual perfume: "Take it from us. And let nature take it from there" and described it as "The fragrance that helps you cultivate your relationship. In the most natural of ways."
Another ad promised "So you can have it any way you want it. Or any way he does."
When the cologne mist and perfume oil were introduced, Jovan urged you to "try them both. And have a field day."
With the success of Jovan's Grass Oil, the company introduced Grass Oil for Men aftershave/ cologne.
"Jovan Grass oil for men. An earthy, stimulating scent that weeds out the men from the boys. A potent, long-lasting blend of wild grasses and oils. In an aftershave/cologne that’s invigorating. Why doesn't Jovan continue Making grass oil! I've bought the small bottles all the time, still have half one .left.

DeleteI read that Jovan sold out to Coty. I emailed Coty and asked if they would ever bring Jovan Grass Oil for women back and they answered back and said there is no plans to bring it back. I also read that it was Jovons's most expensive fragrance to make. I have searched all my adult life for another fragrance that is like it but have not found any. Georgio smells a little like it to me but that is it. I tried to have it recreated by one of those parfume companies that claim to be able to match any fragrance there is including discontinued ones but I wasted my money as what they made did not even come close to the scent of Jovan Grass Oil for women. I'll keep looking till I die to find a fragrance that smells like it as I've never loved a fragrance more than Jovan Grass oil for women.
