Jacques Heim

Jacques Heim. Couture house of Isidore & Jeanne Heim established a fur business in 1898 at 15 avenue Matignon, Paris. Their son Jacques introduced day and evening wear in the 1920s and sold perfumes to their clients in 1930 and introduced them to the public around 1945. Jacques Heim, who was Jewish, went into hiding from the Germans during WWII, managed to keep his boutique in business in Monte Carlo.

Heim became a perfumer because he considered perfume an "invisible diaphanous scarf which completes an ensemble."

All perfumes had ‘fox-head’ logo on the stoppers which had been designed by artist Sonia Delaunay.

The house closed in 1969 and was sold to French concern Henri Michmacher, who owned several boutiques under the name of Pronuptia, cornering the French bridal wear market.

The perfumes of Jacques Heim:
  • 1925 Je Veux
  • 1930 Alambic
  • 1938 Mariflore
  • 1938 Esclave
  • 1945 J'aime
  • 1953 Ariane
  • 1960 Shandoah
  • 1966 Monsieur Heim
  • 1950s Casaque
  • 1950s Amour

Mariflore was presented in a "refreshing green container", while Esclave was presented in one with a "violet motif".
