Lander Perfumes

In this guide I have listed the various perfumes presented by Lander of New York City.

Lander produced various toiletries, bath items, dusting powders, toilet waters, colognes and perfumes. Occasionally you will come across Lander's talcum powder tins, these are usually beautifully decorated with full color lithography and look great amongst your perfumes and vanity stuff.

The perfumes of Lander:
  • 1917 Pixie, reintroduced in 1954
  • 1935 Movie Star
  • 1937 Dorothy Deanne
  • 1937 Dorothy Reed
  • 1939 Romantic Days
  • 1940 Black Orchid
  • 1942 Pink Petal
  • 1942 Black Panther, reintroduced in 1962
  • 1943 Cave Man
  • 1943 Forbidden Secret
  • 1943 Stolen Secret
  • 1943 Untamed Perfume

  • 1948 Emily Page
  • 1950 Samedi-Soir
  • 1963 Jolly Night
  • 1973 Tally Ho for men

Jolly Night was also released under the brand name Darcel. I believe it was a knockoff of Evening in paris by Bourjois, it came in a cobalt blue glass bottle with silver paper label.

Lander also came out with a line of fragrances that are their "versions" of the popular fragrances of the day. These knockoff perfumes were sold in the 1950s-1980s and have simple alphabetical names such as A, S or E.

Note: The E cologne spray was originally available in the lavender cap by the 1970s-1980s it was put out in a white cap, because the lavender cap was then used for the N cologne (Norell).

If your bottle is missing it's label, use the color codes for the caps to figure out what is inside your bottle.
  • A - Arpege (bright yellow cap)
  • E - Estee by Estee Lauder (white cap)
  • E - Estee by Estee Lauder (lavender cap)
  • J - Jontue by Revlon (turquoise cap)
  • M - My Sin (orange cap)
  • S - Shalimar (dark blue cap)
  • W - White Shoulders (hot pink cap)
  • L - L'Air du Temps
  • N - Norell (lavender cap)
  • C - Chanel No. 5 (lime green cap)
  • T - Tabu (blue cap)
