Empreinte by Courreges c1970

Empreinte by Courreges: launched in 1970 in association with cosmetic giant L'Oreal. It was created by Robert Gonnon.

"Many make printing fragrances year, one leaves an imprint. Footprint. It evokes your loveliness Even When you're gone."

. "By Andre Courreges Empreinte. A soft whisper of fragrance as a flower-petal Provocative Lingering we have a glance ... to create an imprint so lasting -..... It's really an imprint. Empriente. Named for what it does... "

Fragrance Composition:

So what does it smell like? It is classified as a chypre floral fragrance for women with a leathery, dry, woodsy base. It was reportedly keyed to a base of Bulgarian rose and jasmine essences with 14 other components including:
  • Top notes: aldehydes, pimento, green note, bergamot, Russian coriander, artemisia, peach, mandarin, Provencal herbs
  • Middle note: carnation, plum, melon, Bulgarian rose, Grasse jasmine, orris
  • Base notes: spices, Russian beech, cedar, Yugoslavian oakmoss, leather, Mysore sandalwood, castoreum, Haitian vetiver, patchouli, ambergris, Tibetan musk
Empriente - Courreges' first fragrance. For the special women of the world who appreciate contemporary elegance. All perfume has a keynote, a body and a heart. But of Empriente Courreges says: "I achieved its originality thanks to a fourth note, a booster note, which enabled me to mix heathery and fresh substances with flowers, leather, exotic woods and spices, musk and amber in a novel blend, extremely long lasting and crystal clear to the lingering end."

Bottles:

Empreinte was housed in tall, clear glass cylindrical bottles, topped by an oversized gilded ball screw cap. The parfum was housed in a gilded glass bottle, opaque to keep the contents from going stale or evaporating. Most perfumes need to be kept in dark places, but this one can be left around to grace the vanity table. When the fragrance was introduced, Japanese consumers liked the fragrance but were offended by the bottle that held the parfum: two opalescent spheres sheathed in transparent resin that was unfortunately, a replica of the traditional Japanese "mochi" New Year's Day rice cake. the two-tier confection has religious status and local laws forbid the exploitation of such shaped fro commercial advantages.

Empriente was available in the following products:
  • 1/4 oz Parfum
  • 1/2 oz Parfum
  • 1 oz Parfum
  • 2 oz Eau de Toilette
  • 4 oz Eau de Toilette
  • 8 oz Eau de Toilette

Fate of the Fragrance:

Still being white sold in May 1985. I believe it-have-been reformulated and relaunched in 1995. Then again discontinued.

It has been reformulated and relaunched in 2012. The bottles are copies of the 1970s originals and are available in 1 oz, 1.7 oz and 3.4 oz Eau de Parfum. However, according to many online reviews, the fragrance not as nice as the original and the scent is very fleeting and stays close to the skin.

So what does the 2012 version of smell like? It is classified as a chypre floral fragrance for women.
  • Top notes: bergamot, aldehydes, mandarin orange
  • Middle notes: rose de mai, Bulgarian rose, jasmine
  • Base notes: moss, patchouli, sandalwood
