Escada by Margaretha Ley c1990

Escada Margaretha Ley was introduced in 1990. Created by perfumers of Créations Aromatiques.




Fragrance Composition:


It is classified as a floral oriental fragrance for women. The beautiful scent starts with a floral top note of Italian bergamot, hyacinth from the South of France and a fruity bouquet of peach and coconut. A mélange of jasmine, ylang ylang and orange blossom is embellished with orris root.Indian sandalwood and vanilla from Madagascar add to the richness and complexity against a background of powdered musk with slight animalistic notes.
  • Top notes: French hyacinth, Italian bergamot, peach, coconut, osmanthus, and mandarin
  • Middle notes: tuberose, carnation, frangipani, orris, jasmine, orange blossom, ylang-ylang, clove
  • Base notes: musk, Indian sandalwood, Madagascar vanilla, frankincense, myrrh, and cedar

Presented in hand-blown heart-shaped bottle designed by Margaretha Ley and Ben Kotyuk.




The one ounce bottle of parfum retailed for $250 when it was introduced, by 1992 though, the parfum shot up to $275 an ounce. The quarter ounce bottle of parfum retailed for $80 and in 1992 it was $90.

The fragrance was available in the following products:

  • Eau de Toilette
  • Body Creme 
  • Body Lotion
  • Bath & Shower Gel

In 1997, a limited edition eau de parfum called Golden Edition was released. This was a richer version of the original sparkling floral scent. It was housed in a miniature 0.85 oz golden heart bottle.


Fate of the Fragrance:


This perfume has been discontinued for many years. It was still being sold in Sephora in 2002.
