Parfums Vernel

Parfums Vernel, a distinguished fragrance brand, was distributed by Chessy-France, a company located at 3, route Nationale, 34-77 in Chessy. This address, nestled in a region known for its rich history and cultural significance, highlights the brand’s deep roots in the French perfume industry. The association with Chessy-France suggests that Parfums Vernel benefitted from the expertise and prestige of this distributor, allowing their scents to reach a broader audience and gain recognition in the competitive world of luxury perfumes. The location, a hub for quality craftsmanship, likely played a key role in the brand's identity, emphasizing its commitment to excellence and the fine art of perfumery.

Parfums Vernel appears to have had a brief yet intriguing presence in the perfume industry, with a limited but memorable portfolio. The brand released only three fragrances during its existence, intriguingly named L, R, and No. 3. These scents, while few in number, suggest a deliberate and carefully curated approach to perfumery, each likely designed to offer a distinct olfactory experience. The minimalist naming of the fragrances—L, R, and No. 3—adds an air of mystery and sophistication, inviting curiosity about the unique characteristics and inspirations behind each creation. Though their time in the spotlight was short, these fragrances remain a testament to Parfums Vernel’s dedication to crafting distinctive and memorable scents.

L:

"L," launched in 1970 as a green floral fragrance for women, features dominant notes of hyacinth, oakmoss, and tuberose.

  • Top notes: bergamot, galbanum, hyacinth
  • Middle notes: lily of the valley, jasmine, violet leaf, tuberose, rose
  • Base notes: sandalwood, patchouli, musk, oakmoss, amber

"L," launched in 1970 as a green floral fragrance for women, opens with a vibrant and refreshing burst of bergamot, which greets the senses with its bright, citrusy sparkle. The initial sharpness is quickly softened by the resinous, green quality of galbanum, adding an earthy depth that is both invigorating and slightly bitter. As the scent unfolds, the floral and green aspects begin to intertwine, with the crisp, dewy scent of hyacinth taking center stage. The hyacinth’s green, slightly sweet, and almost aquatic aroma sets the tone for the fragrance, evoking the fresh, verdant air of a blooming spring garden.

As the top notes begin to settle, the heart of the fragrance reveals itself with a lush bouquet of florals. Lily of the valley adds a delicate, sweetly floral touch, its gentle scent reminiscent of tiny white bells swaying in a cool breeze. The richness of jasmine follows, with its intoxicatingly creamy, white floral essence, adding a luxurious depth to the composition.

Violet leaf introduces a subtle green note, slightly powdery, that enhances the fragrance’s fresh and natural feel, while also providing a soft, leafy undertone. At the heart of it all is tuberose, an opulent and heady floral note that blooms with a creamy, almost buttery scent, exuding a sensual, intoxicating warmth. The inclusion of rose lends a classic touch, with its timeless and romantic aroma, balancing the headiness of tuberose with a soft, sweet elegance.

As "L" evolves on the skin, the base notes emerge, grounding the fragrance with warmth and depth. Sandalwood imparts a smooth, creamy woodiness, creating a soft and comforting backdrop. The earthy, slightly sweet richness of patchouli adds a layer of complexity, enhancing the natural, mossy qualities of the scent. Musk provides a soft, animalic warmth that melds seamlessly with the skin, lending a subtle, sensual depth to the fragrance.

Oakmoss introduces a rich, earthy, and slightly damp character, evoking the scent of a dense forest floor, full of life and mystery. Finally, a touch of amber adds a warm, resinous glow to the base, with its golden, slightly sweet aroma rounding out the composition with a lingering, soft warmth that beautifully complements the green and floral notes.

In sum, "L" is a fragrance that masterfully balances the fresh, green vibrancy of spring with the warm, grounding depth of the forest, creating a scent that is at once invigorating, sensual, and enduring. Each note plays a crucial role, contributing to a complex yet harmonious composition that captures the essence of natural beauty.

R:

"R," launched in 1970 as a fresh, fruity fragrance for women, already features an interesting blend of citrus, wood, and incense notes.

  • Top notes: mandarin, bergamot, grapefruit
  • Middle notes: peach, neroli, jasmine, rose
  • Base notes: frankincense, myrrh, oakmoss, vetiver, amber, musk, sandalwood

"R," launched in 1970 as a fresh, fruity fragrance for women, opens with an exhilarating burst of citrus, where mandarin greets the senses with its sweet, juicy, and slightly tangy aroma. The mandarin's sunny brightness is perfectly balanced by the crisp, sparkling essence of bergamot, which adds a lively, zesty freshness with its slightly bitter, green undertone. The introduction of grapefruit completes the citrus trio, infusing the opening with a sharp, tart edge that is both invigorating and refreshing, giving the fragrance an immediate sense of vitality and energy.

As the top notes begin to soften, the heart of the fragrance emerges, revealing a more luscious and complex character. Peach brings a soft, velvety sweetness to the blend, its ripe, juicy scent adding a touch of indulgence that complements the citrus notes beautifully. The floral elegance of neroli follows, its orange blossom aroma infusing the fragrance with a delicate, honeyed warmth that maintains the citrusy brightness while introducing a gentle floral depth.

Jasmine joins the bouquet, its rich, creamy scent adding a layer of sophistication and sensuality, blending seamlessly with the fruity notes to create a harmonious, opulent heart. Rose adds a classic touch, with its soft, sweet, and slightly spicy aroma, balancing the composition with a romantic, timeless quality.

As the fragrance settles into its base, the deeper, more grounding notes begin to unfold, adding warmth and complexity to the scent. Frankincense introduces a mystical, resinous quality, with its warm, slightly spicy aroma creating an air of intrigue and depth. Myrrh follows, adding a rich, balsamic sweetness that complements the incense, lending a resinous and slightly smoky undertone to the composition. The earthy, green notes of oakmoss and vetiver anchor the fragrance, evoking the scent of a damp forest floor, rich with life and natural beauty.

Amber adds a soft, glowing warmth, with its golden, resinous sweetness providing a comforting, enveloping base that lingers beautifully on the skin. Musk enhances this warmth, with its soft, sensual, and slightly animalic undertones adding depth and longevity to the fragrance. Finally, sandalwood rounds out the base, with its smooth, creamy woodiness creating a harmonious and serene finish that leaves a lasting impression.

"R" is a fragrance that masterfully blends the freshness of citrus and the sweetness of fruit with the warmth of woods and resins, creating a scent that is both vibrant and deeply sensual. Each note is carefully balanced, contributing to a rich, multifaceted composition that captures the essence of freshness, warmth, and timeless elegance.

No. 3:

"No. 3," launched in 1970, was designed as a fresh, herbaceous fragrance ideal for young women with an active, sporty lifestyle.

  • Top notes: chamomile, thyme, lemon, lavender, mint, petitgrain
  • Middle notes: coriander, jasmine absolute, rosemary, clary sage, geranium, violet leaf
  • Base notes: vetiver, cedar, oakmoss, sandalwood, amber

"No. 3," launched in 1970 as a fresh, herbaceous fragrance, opens with a lively and invigorating burst of notes that immediately transport you to a sunlit herb garden. The first whiff brings the soothing, apple-like scent of chamomile, which is both calming and subtly sweet, creating a gentle, welcoming introduction. This is quickly followed by the aromatic, slightly spicy sharpness of thyme, adding a touch of earthiness and a hint of warmth. As you inhale deeper, the bright, zesty essence of lemon cuts through, with its citrusy freshness offering an uplifting and energetic quality that perfectly complements the herbal backdrop. Lavender adds its characteristic clean, floral aroma, with a slight hint of camphor that enhances the overall freshness, while the cool, crisp scent of mint invigorates the senses with its sharp, refreshing sharpness. Petitgrain, derived from the leaves and twigs of the bitter orange tree, ties the top notes together with its green, woody, and slightly bitter citrus undertone, adding depth and complexity.

As the top notes begin to mellow, the heart of "No. 3" emerges, revealing a rich blend of herbs and florals. Coriander introduces a warm, spicy nuance, with its slightly citrusy and woody undertones that bring an exotic twist to the composition. Jasmine absolute adds a luxurious depth, its rich, sweet, and intensely floral scent providing a sensual contrast to the fresher, herbaceous notes. The aromatic, slightly medicinal scent of rosemary cuts through, adding a sharp, pine-like freshness that keeps the fragrance vibrant and lively. Clary sage follows with its distinctive herbal, slightly musky aroma, which lends a grounding earthiness and a hint of sweetness. Geranium contributes a green, slightly rosy note, with a touch of peppery spice that enhances the fragrance’s natural, outdoorsy feel. Finally, the soft, green aroma of violet leaf adds a subtle, leafy freshness, reinforcing the fragrance’s connection to nature and the outdoors.

As "No. 3" dries down, the base notes provide a warm and earthy foundation that balances the bright, herbaceous elements. Vetiver introduces a deep, smoky earthiness, with its grassy and slightly woody aroma creating a sense of grounded stability. Cedar adds a dry, resinous woodiness that brings warmth and structure to the composition, while oakmoss evokes the scent of a damp forest floor, with its rich, earthy, and slightly leathery character enhancing the fragrance’s wild, natural essence. Sandalwood imparts a smooth, creamy woodiness that softens the sharper edges, adding a touch of elegance and sophistication. Finally, amber rounds out the base with its warm, resinous sweetness, providing a soft, glowing warmth that lingers on the skin, creating a comforting and enduring finish.

In essence, "No. 3" is a beautifully balanced fragrance that harmonizes fresh, herbaceous notes with warm, earthy undertones, capturing the essence of an active, outdoor lifestyle. Each ingredient is carefully chosen to create a scent that is both invigorating and grounding, making it an ideal companion for the young, sporty woman who loves nature and the outdoors.
