Trump Fragrances

This post is a response to one of my readers who wanted to know why I didn't list any of the Trump branded fragrances. I will be honest, I am not a supporter of the Trump family and over the years have weighed against adding this brief guide on the Trump Fragrances due to this personal feeling, however, when it comes to fragrances themselves, it is important that I continuously remain objective in posting about the brands. I am not here to tell you to wear or not wear this fragrance, that is your choice. All I can advise is that you make your choice at the voting booths :)

In January 1989, the Trumps (then-married couple Ivana & Donald) filed an application to trademark the name "Ivana" for use as a top perfume brand name. By May 1989, the application was still pending.

In June 1990, it was reported by New York Magazine that Ivana Trump's new fragrance was a citrusy, flowery smell. As mentioned in the blurb, an intimate of the infamous peroxide blonde socialite said that "She plucked a spray of orange blossoms from a tree near Mar-A-Lago [the Trump's Florida estate] and left it in her room overnight. She was enchanted with the smell next morning. It was like a good omen."

Ivana by House of Ivana: launched prior to 1993, and mostly sold via the home shopping network (HSN) in America and QVC in Europe. Ivana also made several JC Penney department store appearances to promote the fragrance. JC Penney initially ordered $3.2 million dollars worth of the scent. Ivana The Perfume is classified as a rich white floral bouquet fragrance for women and was inspired in part by Fracas by Robert Piguet and Christian Lacroix's first perfume. The Ivana line included: parfum, eau de parfum, eau de toilette, body cream, bubbling bath oil, body lotion, silky body powder, and body shampoo.

  • Top notes: aldehydes, neroli, bergamot, lily of the valley, jonquil, mandarin, peach, hyacinth
  • Middle notes: ylang ylang, orange blossom, gardenia, carnation, tuberose, jasmine, rose
  • Base notes: amber, oakmoss, musk, sandalwood, tonka bean, coriander, benzoin

In 1999, Ivana Trump also marketed a cologne originally to be called "The Donald," but her ex-husband objected to her using his name to make money so she resorted to calling it "Ivana For Men."

In 2001, Ivana Trump filed to trademark the name "Ivanka" for fragrance amongst other products. She claimed its first use in commerce was 1998.

Donald Trump the Fragrance: launched in 2004 in association with Estée Lauder. It was created by perfumer Annie Buzantian. It is classified as a woody aromatic fragrance for men.

  • Top notes: cucumber, black basil, mint and citruses
  • Middle notes: spices, pepper, woods and herbs
  • Base notes: spices, exotic woods and vetiver

Success by Trump: launched in 2011 under licensing arrangements with Five Star Fragrance. Created by perfumer Yann Vasnier. It is classified as a fragrance for men.

  • Top notes: juniper, iced red currant and coriander
  • Middle notes: bamboo leaves, frozen ginger and geranium
  • Base notes: birch, vetiver, musk and tonka bean

Ivanka Trump by Ivanka Trump: launched in 2012 in association with Parlux Fragrances Inc. Created in collaboration with perfumers Jennifer Mullarkey and Marypierre Julien. It is classified as a floral amber (floral oriental) fragrance for women.

  • Top notes: apple, pink pepper and Italian bergamot
  • Middle notes: peach, rose and jasmine
  • Base notes: vanilla, amber, patchouli and cedar.

Empire by Trump: launched in 2015. It is classified as a fragrance for men.

  • Top notes: apple, rich chai tea accord, peppermint
  • Middle notes: orange blossom, jasmine
  • Base notes: tonka bean, amber, musk

In conclusion, I leave you with a hilarious still from a bizarre video of Donald Trump accompanied by Rudy Giuliani dressed in drag.

  1. Thank you for this. I used to wear Ivana perfume way back in the day and absolutely loved it. Once it became discontinued I could never find a dupe, but maybe with your description of the notes I can find something reminiscent

Welcome!

This is not your average perfume blog. In each post, I present perfumes or companies as encyclopedic entries with as much facts and photos as I can add for easy reading and researching without all the extraneous fluff or puffery.

Please understand that this website is not affiliated with any of the perfume companies written about here, it is only a source of reference. I consider it a repository of vital information for collectors and those who have enjoyed the classic fragrances of days gone by. Updates to posts are conducted whenever I find new information to add or to correct any errors.

One of the goals of this website is to show the present owners of the various perfumes and cologne brands that are featured here how much we miss the discontinued classics and hopefully, if they see that there is enough interest and demand, they will bring back these fragrances!

Please leave a comment below (for example: of why you liked the fragrance, describe the scent, time period or age you wore it, who gave it to you or what occasion, any specific memories, what it reminded you of, maybe a relative wore it, or you remembered seeing the bottle on their vanity table, did you like the bottle design), who knows, perhaps someone from the company brand might see it.

Also, if you have any information not seen here, please comment and share with all of us.
