Mai Tai by Browny (Royal Hawaiian Perfumes) was launched in 1950.
So what does it smell like? It s classified as a light floral fragrance for women
This was a pleasant surprise.
This is a discontinued perfume.
Fragrance Composition:
So what does it smell like? It s classified as a light floral fragrance for women
- Top notes: aldehydes, orange, lime, rum
- Middle notes: lily of the valley, jasmine, almond
- Base notes: oakmoss, vetiver, civet, amber, benzoin, vanilla, sandalwood
There are no published notes of this fragrance, so I had a vintage perfume nip of Mai Tai in which I was able to do a review on. Using this vintage perfume nip, I detected notes of aldehydes, oakmoss, vetiver, civet, amber, benzoin, vanilla, sandalwood and muguet. I did not detect any sort of "tropical" flowers like frangipani or ylang ylang but there is a floral note in there, smells like a mixture of jasmine (Pikake), layered over vanilla.
This was a pleasant surprise.
Fate of the Fragrance:
The fragrance was trademarked by Royal Hawaiian Perfumes in 1963. According to the trademark filing application, "Mai Tai" is supposedly a Tahitian expression, meaning "good for you."
This is a discontinued perfume.
