J’aime de Jacques Heim c1952

J’aime de Jacques Heim Parfums Jacques Heim: launched in 1952.

Fragrance Composition:

So what does it smell like? It is classified as a green fruity woody chypre fragrance for women.
  • Top notes: bergamot, jonquil, aldehyde, lily of the valley,
  • Middle notes: iris, Bulgarian rose absolute, jasmine absolute, ylang ylang
  • Base notes: Kashmire costus, vetiver, Mysore sandalwood, oakmoss, Moroccan cedar, ambergris, castoreum, musk

Essai sur la langue de la réclame contemporaine, Marcel Galliot, 1955:
"Some designations are even puns, if not riddles: Jacques Heim's recent perfume, J'aime, alongside its amorous suggestion, obviously plays on words with the designer's name."

The Bermudian, 1966:
"Like so many fine French perfumes, this is from the French couture house of JACQUES HEIM. J'aime is the name — a lovely light floral bouquet which will appeal to every lady who likes a subtle, interesting fragrance."

L'Art et Mode, 1966:
"Jacques Heim, a great Couturier, had to create a new perfume; the worldwide success of J'aime, perfume loves if ever there was one, could encourage him to offer us a new note; this is the case with Shandoah which has just been published; already tested on hundreds of women, it will be very popular this winter. But Jacques Heim has not been subtle with men; for us, two great successes, the Eau de Toilette Monsieur Heim and the after -shave Monsieur Heim; composed of citron, rose, lemon, ambergris, woody essences and vetiver. Monsieur Heim eau de toilette is so tempting, that women also want to adopt it."

Officiel de la couture et de la mode de Paris, 1967:

"Jacques Heim pleases with J'aime and Shandoah, young and fresh, composed of absolute roses, Castilian jasmines, languorous irises."

Paris-match - Issues 1736-1753, 1982:

"J'aime by Jacques Heim. A chypre, original, classy fragrance. For a woman who reveals an endearing personality."

Welcome!

This is not your average perfume blog. In each post, I present perfumes or companies as encyclopedic entries with as much facts and photos as I can add for easy reading and researching without all the extraneous fluff or puffery.

Please understand that this website is not affiliated with any of the perfume companies written about here, it is only a source of reference. I consider it a repository of vital information for collectors and those who have enjoyed the classic fragrances of days gone by. Updates to posts are conducted whenever I find new information to add or to correct any errors.

One of the goals of this website is to show the present owners of the various perfumes and cologne brands that are featured here how much we miss the discontinued classics and hopefully, if they see that there is enough interest and demand, they will bring back these fragrances!

Please leave a comment below (for example: of why you liked the fragrance, describe the scent, time period or age you wore it, who gave it to you or what occasion, any specific memories, what it reminded you of, maybe a relative wore it, or you remembered seeing the bottle on their vanity table, did you like the bottle design), who knows, perhaps someone from the company brand might see it.

Also, if you have any information not seen here, please comment and share with all of us.
