Odalisque by Nettie Rosenstein c1946

Odalisque by Nettie Rosenstein: launched in 1946.


Fragrance Composition:


So what does it smell like? It is classified as a light Oriental fragrance for women. It begins with a citrusy top, followed by a heart of white flowers, resting on a base of woods and spices.
  • Top notes: bergamot, aldehydes, lavender
  • Middle notes: carnation, rose, jasmine, opoponax and lily of the valley 
  • Base notes: spices, amber, frankincense, vetiver, cedar, civet, oakmoss, sandalwood, patchouli, tonka bean and musk

Motion Picture, 1947:
"Nettie Rosenstein's debut scent, Odalisque, clear, sharp with deep interesting undertones. $15 the half-ounce."


Odalisque was available in the following forms:
  • 1/4 oz Parfum
  • 1/2 oz Parfum
  • 1 oz Parfum
  • Perfume Oil (introduced in 1963)
  • Eau de Parfum
  • Spray Cologne
  • Bath Oil
  • Creme de Parfum
  • Dusting Powder
  • Talc
  • Soap
  • Hand & Body Lotion
  • 24K gold electroplate medallion filled with solid Odalisque perfume, it looks like a pocket watch.


Fate of the Fragrance: 

 I believe this perfume was discontinued after 1996.

  2. Hi, I tried finding the info for you, but I have come up empty handed. It is not currently being made and has not being made since around 1996. I do not know who holds the current licensing rights for the perfume other than the company itself.   3. Hello. Marilyn Miglin, the creator of Pheromone perfume, holds the license to Nettie Rosenstein's Odalisque fragrance. I believe the company owner in New York, who held the license before us for many years, retired.
