Sharelle by House of Hampton c1962

Sharelle by House of Hampton: launched around 1962.

Vintage 1960s Sharelle by House of Hampton 1 Dram (1/8 oz) Collectible Mini Perfume Bottle. Cute little purse flacon. The bottle has a filigree and rhinestone detail on the front, a metallic gold ribbon wrapped around the neck, a gold plastic screw cap, and a gold foil embossed label on the back. My photos.

It is a sweet, floral, powdery oriental perfume for women with an herbal note. Smells a lot similar to vintage Shocking by Schiaparelli perfume. There are no official notes on this perfume, so I was able to test this with a little drop on my skin from my vintage mini bottle. Note: this is no longer fresh smelling as it was when it was new, it has turned. Here is what notes I detect:

  • Top notes: aldehydes, citrus notes
  • Middle notes: jasmine, rose, carnation, spices, honey, lavender
  • Base notes: myrrh, civet, sandalwood, resins, amber, musk, benzoin, oakmoss, patchouli

Discontinued, date unknown. Super hard to find, but worth it in my opinion.

Kay Francis and Perfumes c1933

In this vintage movie still photo from the 1933 film The Keyhole, you can see many beautiful perfume bottles on actress Kay Francis' vanity table.

A large Ruba Rhombic perfume bottle made by Consolidated Lamp and Glass Company can be seen to the right. To the immediate right, I can also see one of the Hoffmann Czech perfume bottles with the nude dauber. Other Czech bottles and possibly some commercial flacons are also present on the vanity.

Another perfume bottle filled vanity appears in another Kay Francis film, 1932's Cynara. You can spot some atomizers (probably DeVilbiss) and some other bottles.
