Les Parfums de Marcy

Les Parfums de Marcy. Established around 1910 possibly by Lazare Bloch at a small factory at Les Lilas. After becoming more successful a shop was opened at 120 avenue des Champs-Elysees in Paris. After the Second World War, the company was then affiliated with Societe Anonyme des Parfums Sidlay, with Paul Heymann as proprietor and true innovator.

Many high quality presentations were created such as Les Fleurs Miraculeuses, Le Bouquet Miraculeux, Le Bracelet Miraculeux, and Le Collier Miraculeux. Parfums de Marcy excelled in the execution of trompe l'oeil perfume presentations, several fo which you will see in this guide.

Fernand Capelle

Fernand Capelle, based at 78 Boulevard Lamouroux, Vitry-sur-Seine, Seine, France, emerged as an obscure figure in the perfume industry in 1936. The establishment, founded that year, became renowned for its elegant and distinctive fragrances. The mark associated with this brand was succinctly inscribed as "Capelle Paris," a signature that exuded both simplicity and sophistication.

The two perfumes known from the Capelle Paris collection are "Mon Faible" and "Les Drags." "Mon Faible," launched in 1936, was the inaugural fragrance of the brand. This perfume likely embodied the charm and elegance of the era, reflecting Capelle’s vision and the stylish essence of the 1930s. "Les Drags," introduced a year later in 1937, continued this tradition, potentially offering a different olfactory experience while maintaining the brand's refined aesthetic.

Although the range of fragrances from Capelle Paris was limited to these two offerings, their creations are remembered for their distinctiveness and the mark they left in the perfume industry during a period of rich olfactory innovation.

Les Parfums Marly

Les Parfums Marly, a French perfume house founded around 1920, emerged as a notable name in the world of luxury fragrances. The brand quickly made its mark with a diverse range of products that extended beyond mere perfumes. Their offerings included Eau de Toilette and Eau de Cologne, catering to various preferences and occasions. In addition to fragrances, Les Parfums Marly also produced an array of beauty products, such as brilliantines—specialized hair products designed to add shine and manageability. Their line of face powders and bath powders provided a touch of elegance and sophistication to daily routines.

The brand's cosmetic range was equally impressive, featuring rouge compacts, rouge refills, and cream rouge to enhance the natural beauty of their clientele. Their lipsticks, crafted to complement their other products, completed the comprehensive beauty regimen that Les Parfums Marly offered. Each item was advertised as being created in France, underscoring the brand's commitment to French craftsmanship and quality.

In the United States, Les Parfums Marly was represented by Geo Borgfeldt & Co., a company known for its role in distributing luxury goods. This partnership helped to establish Les Parfums Marly's presence in the American market, bringing their sophisticated products to a wider audience and contributing to their international reputation.

What are Floral Perfumes?

Fragrances can be classified by certain olfactive families, or themes, or accords.

Floral:

the most popular in perfumery, includes both single floral scents and floral bouquets,. Floral scents can be either rich or light and airy in character. Single florals, also called soliflore, would be tuberose, hyacinth, lilac, honeysuckle, and gardenia, lily of the valley, orange blossom, jasmine, violet, carnation, rose and jasmine. Floral bouquets weave scents together to form a unified scent.

Les Parfums d'Aguila

Les Parfums d'Aguila of Paris, France. They seemed to have only released one fragrance "Reve de Noel", in 1945. This perfume was presented in a coffret that housed a music box. The bottles were topped by a frosted glass stopper molded in the shape of flames. The deluxe bottle was heart shaped and had a pedestal. The lesser priced bottle was simply a square but still had the lovely flame stopper.
