Q. "I have a bottle of Havoc perfume that I have been holding on to for any years. I often pop off the top and take in that lovely scent that I so loved back in high school! It evokes such great memories!! I would love to wear that wonderful scent once again. Is it possible to find or duplicate the scent I long for? Please let me know so I can stop searching. My daughter is in London presently and I am thinking of sending her to the Mary Quant shop. Please tell me if this search is futile. Thanks in advance for your efforts!"

Pavlova by Payot c1977

Pavlova by Payot: launched in 1977. Inspired by turn of the century opulence and named after the famous ballerina, Pavlova. Based on a perfume that was created in 1922 for Anna Pavlova. The swan motif on the packing of the modern bottles from Payot reflect the fact that Anna Pavlova owned a pet swan named Jack, a very graceful addition to her own graceful movements on stage.

Femme by Rochas c1943

After the Second World War, a new perfume was on the horizon. At the request of Marcel Rochas, Edmond Roudnitska created the perfume Femme. The perfume was inspired by Rochas's young wife. Legend has it that he gave it to her as his wedding present.

Givenchy Perfumes

Established by Hubert de Givenchy, born in Beauvais France in 1927. Fashion designer; established House of Givenchy in 1952 at 3 avenue Georges V, Paris and Parfums Givenchy in 1957.

Both Jacques Fath and Elsa Schiaparelli worked for him.

Givenchy became part of the Louis Vuitton Moet Hennesey group  in 1986. Retired in 1995.

To open the classic Givenchy crystal parfum flacon, use the following tip provided by Parfums Givenchy in 1963:

This bottle has a thick, gripable top. The main thing is to cut off all paper and cord. The top will probably twist off easily - if not, tap lightly.

Monsieur de Givenchy: Top notes are carnation, cinnamon, pepper and lemon; middle notes are lavender and lemon verbena; base notes are sandalwood, musk and oakmoss.

Givenchy Gentleman: A rich mossy chypre edt. The nose behind this fragrance is Paul Leger. Top notes are honey, cinnamon, bergamot, rose and lemon; middle notes are patchouli, orris root, jasmine and cedar; base notes are leather, amber, patchouli, musk, oakmoss, vanilla and vetiver.

Pi: named after the mathematical number discovered by Archimedes, a woody masculine oriental edt with top notes of tangerine, neroli and nasturtium, heart notes of galbanum, rosemary, basil and tarragon on base notes of pine needles, Guaîac wood, benzoin and vanilla. A limited edition bottle of Pi, "Original Code" was launched in 2005; the bottle features an engraved bronzed veneer.

Jade East by Swank c1963

Jade East Cologne and Perfume has remained a favorite fragrance among American men and has become a classic fragrance for today's man.

Ecusson by Jean d'Albret c1947

Ecusson was launched in 1947 in France by Jean d'Albret and was introduced to the United States in 1951. The fragrance was composed by the perfumers at Roure.

Ecusson means "Coat of Arms" in French, it was advertised as having a history traceable to the fabulous French era of the 1570's where it was first introduced into the court of Jeanne d 'Albret, mother of King Henry IV and its formula carefully guarded. The legend goes on to say that it was created for Marshall Alphonse d'Ornano, who was considered to be a connoisseur of perfumes, by an ancient chemist who entertained an envious reputation for his perfumes that were the toast of Paris. "Ecusson, a devastating and frankly feminine memorable perfume .."

Detchema by Revillon c1953

Detchéma by Revillon: launched in 1953 and named for the Tibetan sorceress of joy. The perfume was specially blended by Léon Hardy at IFF to perfume furs, its component extracts included from essences from India and from Ceylon.

Ambre Antique by Coty c1905

Ambre Antique was launched in 1905 by Coty. Pronounced "Ahm-ber ahn-teek", it was described as the "fragrance of splendour and conquest, the thrall of legendary queens."

Belle de Nuit by Fragonard c1947

Belle de Nuit was launched in 1947 by Fragonard. It was named after a flower of great beauty that only opens its petals at night - not to the sun - but to the moon.

Cachet by Prince Matchabelli c1970

Cachet by Prince Matchabelli: launched in 1970.

In a 1970s introductory ad, Prince Matchabelli claimed that the "Fragrance is as individual as you are. Fascinating Cachet reacts to your body chemistry to make this delightful."  Another ad read "Besides being fresh and fascinating, Cachet is designed to pick up and play up every girl's own very special chemistry."

Amazone by Hermes c1974

Amazone by Hermes was created in 1974, and first launched France before coming to America in 1976 for special limited distribution for Christmas before being put into general distribution in the USA in 1977.

Masumi by Coty c1967

Masumi by Coty was launched in 1967. A 1976 article describes the perfume as being made , "For example Coty's new Masumi seems directed at the Yoga generation. "

Climat by Lancôme: launched in 1967. Created by by Gerard Goupil of Robertet Perfumers. This fragrance takes its name from the well-known eponymous novel by French author André Maurois. The English translation of “Climats de Lancome” is "ambience of Lancome.”
