Ming Toy by Parfums Forest c1923
The magnificent Ming Toy was created for Parfums Forest in 1923. The name is an anglicized version of a Chinese name. Ming Toy is a Chinese girl in the musical comedy "East Is West" from (1918). The name is one of many exotic perfumes manufactured in the 1920s given Near Eastern inspired names including: Shanghai, Le Temple Chinois, Mitsouko, Wanaranee, Crepe de Chine, Tsingtao, Mitsuiva, Hasu-No-Hana, Lucille de Chine, Kai Sang, Phul-Nana, Cha Ming, Kananga du Japon, Vale of Kashmar, Ming, Cho-Cho-San, Tsang-Ihang, Mai Wang, Kesako, Yoshiwara, Chin Ching, and Chu-Chin-Chow.
Ming Toy Perfume Bottle. On March 25, 1924, Leon Cohn of Paris, France, patented his design in America for a perfume bottle. The bottle represented a seated figure of a Chinese girl with fan in hand and fancy headdress which formed the stopper of the bottle. The bottle was manufactured by Baccarat. The name "Ming Toy" is painted across the face of the fan, and the bottle of crystal glass has been decorated with colored enamels and gold. The bottle stands 4 3/8" tall.

Coryse was established in 1919 by Maurice Blanchetat 64 rue de la Chaussee-d'Antin, Paris and sold perfumes, toiletries and cosmetics. He purchased the perfumery Salome in 1929 and the two companies merged into Coryse-Salome.

Parfumerie Diaphane
Established in 1881 by Mr. A. Reverchon at 48 avenue Parmentier, Paris. Reverchon created a rice powder for the face in 1879 and named it La Diaphane, he named his company after his best selling product.
Parfumerie Diaphane exported its products around two-thirds in most of Europe, in Indo-China to Japan in the Caribbean and off the coast of Pacific.
Parfumerie Diaphane was located at 4 rue Edith-Cavell, Courbevoie, Seine, France.

Parfumerie Rafin, 5 avenue Victoria, Paris, established in 1855 by Henri Rafin, a pharmacist. Launched fragrances in mid 1920's.

Parfums Pierre Dune, established in October 1938 at 49 rue de Prony, Paris, at a time troubled by Edmond Rosens of Paris. It was a matter of courage. The launch was made in January 1939 by the introduction of a range of five flower Evocations: Rose, Oeillet, Tubereuse, Violette, and Orchidee.

Les Parfums de Jaspy of Paris, established at 75 rue du Cardinal Lemoine, Paris in 1910, and subtitled "Parfums Modernes et Originaux". The company was very short-lived.
The New York French Export Company was the sole distributor of Jaspy in 1920.

Le Petit Chose by Jaspy: launched in 1922, clear glass pear shaped flacon with stopper made up of milk glass, a stylized man's head wearing a black hat. Bottle made in memory of French author, Alphonse Daudet who wrote the novel Le P'tite Chose.

The business was established in 1877 by Eastman, the company being incorporated in January 1891. They recently moved into a new and extensive factory, 100 x 200 feet and 6 stories in height. They have sales rooms at 426 Broome Street York 87 and 89 Washington Street Chicago, and 16 Second Street Francisco. Their business is done almost entirely through traveling salesmen. We give an illustration of the trade mark and most distinctive issued by this house."
